Cara Rosenbaum is Totally Awesome

Horse enthusiast Cara Rosenbaum took some time to virtually stop by the YTA studio and talk about her equine veterinarian aspirations. We learned how to wrestle an Alpaca, what it’s like to wipe Moonstruck’s butt, and about the genius of implanting Nike shox on a horse’s foot. She hangs out with olympic athletes and aspires to be an 82 year-old veterinarian legend.

That’s our girl hanging out with one of her horses. She fixes horses and makes everyone smile, so hit play and catch up with the totally awesome Cara Rosenbaum!

Mark Sonnenblick is Totally Awesome

Accomplished musical theater lyricist and musician Mark Sonnenblick took a break from his adventures in New York to catch up with YTA. We learned how to write an award winning musical, what its like to work with casting directors and producers, and where Mark plans to take his talents after the show runs its course. We throw many shout outs to the musical’s writer and its many supporters.

Check out his musical, the Independents, and its Kickstarter site. It’s gotten great reviews from everyone including the NYTimes and has won the Fringe Festival’s award for Best Overall Production! It’s still playing for those of you who are in New York, so don’t miss it if you’re out there (tickets here)! I’m flying over to watch it in two weeks.

That’s our man in one of his many dapper outfits. (I promise he has friends.) He’s one of the most talented people I’ve had the pleasure of calling my friend, so hit play and catch up with the totally awesome Mark Sonnenblick!

Jasmine Lee is Totally Awesome

DJ Juicy J a.k.a Jasmine Lee joined YTA in our second attempt at video conferencing. We learned how “they still make music like they used to” despite what Mr. Lee may say, what path she was took to become the DJ of the love-filled Gentle Touch, and that discovering the best music is not a job for the weary. We threw a big shout out and thank you to one of our favorites, Quyen Ngo, and to Oprah, since Jasmines coming for her.

Make sure and check out your blog if you want to be immensely entertained, and follow her on twitter if you want to stay on top of the hottest tracks.

That’s our girl on the left in her WBRU DJ booth. She’s full of passion and good music, so hit play and hang out with the totally awesome Jasmine Lee!

Adi Kamdar is Totally Awesome

Long time friend and activist at the Electronic Frontier Foundation, Adi Kamdar, helped YTA usher in the age of the video conference. We talked about how Adi is fighting for your digital rights (he’s actually the guy who killed SOPA and PIPA) by educating the public, that Adi and EFF have a special connection that no one else in his office can lay claim to (“o.m.g. w.t.f. Adi is as old as EFF”),  and where his passion for protecting the civil liberties surrounding technology and the Internet came from. We throw some shout outs to the EFF geniuses that he’s learning from and his mom (hi Mrs. Kamdar!).

Check out Adi’s latest campaign Open Wireless in which he is working to make free WiFi available to everyone everywhere. Yes everywhere. Also catch up with him on his now frequently updated blog.

That’s our boy expressing how he really feels about the interwebs. He’s one of my oldest friends, and he’s doing some amazing things, so hit play and catch up with the totally awesome Adi Kamdar

Halsey Niles is Totally Awesome

Why he’s awesome: Meditation Guru aka the Zen Man (Research Coordinator at the Benson-Henry Institute for Mind Body Medicine at Massachusetts General Hospital)

Meditation and contemplative studies master Halsey Niles joined YTA to impart his zen wisdom on the podcast. We talked about his serendipitous entry into the world of meditation, how mind body practices can drastically improve physical maladies, and his future as this guy. He reveals that even an institute that emphasizes relaxation as a curing mechanism can induce stress (thankfully they have mood stickers) and how although he’s loving life as a working man, he still misses Brown.

Be sure to visit Brown University’s Contemplative Studies website if you’re interested in reaching Halsey’s level of zen-ness and be sure to check out the many resources it provides. He’s got a smooth voice, so hit play and catch up with the totally awesome Halsey Niles!
